Winter 2014 Registration

Available player spots in each division will be filled based on each player's registration date until we have reached our team capacity limits. The number of teams in each age division will be based on available coaches we have committed to the program. Again, SoCal will form teams (Boys U9, U11, U13 & U15 divisions and Girls U11, U13 & U15 divisions) on a first-come basis with returning players first and then new players.

SoCal Lacrosse plays on a regulation youth field with 10 players per side for boys and 12 players per side for girls and no experience is necessary. SoCal Lacrosse makes every effort to form balanced and competitive teams as follows:
  • Number of teams is determined by available qualified coaches each year
  • Registration priority is given to returning players each year
  • New players are added based on available team spots
  • Player and prior year coach try to track together - (player or coach can opt out if requested)
  • Returning or new player can request coach; team spot is based on availability and player's experience
  • If coach moves to new division and prior year player does not, returning player is placed with another coach in their division and level
  • Remaining players are placed on teams via age, experience level (#/years played, coach evaluation), and school with intent to balance the teams appropriately (i.e. x # of new vs. returning, young vs. old for division, etc.)
  • Some players are placed on teams based on parent request due to carpool needs, etc., if feasible, SoCal will make a conscious effort to accommodate the players within the parameters above
  • Once teams are formed, SoCal reviews the experience level of each team to determine team level for league play

 YEAR ROUND LAX OPPORTUNITIES

Outdoor lacrosse around the county is typically played during the spring, although, on the West Coast, Lacrosse can be played during 3/4 of the year, due to our outstanding weather.

The following is a brief overview of the three seasons that lacrosse is played in Southern California.

WINTER Lacrosse (Nov-March)
SoCal Lacrosse participates in the Winter season for the OCLA. Divisions for these teams are boys and girls U9, U11, U13 & U15.

SPRING Lacrosse (March-May)
SoCal Lacrosse participates in the Spring season for the OCLA. The season generally runs from late March to late May, sometimes into early June. For specific questions, please contact your boys or girls program director listed on our contacts page.

SUMMER Lacrosse (June-July)
Best described as club lacrosse. Teams formed in this season play within lacrosse club organizations. Some SoCal teams participate in summer leagues and/or summer tournaments. The summer teams are generally very competitive that allow players the opportunity to play against other club level teams and improve their skills.
